    I worked for a guy years ago who was "crafty" at that level with regards to small engines. Were I to have an adequately equipped shop and the time to play I would probably engage in same.

    Why, When the real thing can be so much more fun. Probably take less time to build too.

    I don't have access to enough machine shop to create a full-size short block from scratch but I can manage a scale model.
