Took out dads new bike for about three hours today. Little break in period for the engine and the tires. It is a nice ride but it does not have the power I had expected. There is plenty enough power, dont get me wrong, I just expected more. In fact it is a really nice bike. Perfect for my parents for going out on short trips. I think they would have enjoyed a touring bike more though. However, I can understand them not wanting to drop the extra 15k$.
My cousin just got a V-Star 250 today. I fear that she will outgrow it and regret the purchase by the end of the summer. I know its got less ass but I tried to get her to get a GZ250 for this exact reason. There is a significant price difference and will sting less when she wants a bigger bike. TBH, my initial suggestion to her was an S40. Its smaller but still will give her plenty of power and such on the highway. The Star 250 just does not have anything left to give at 60-65.
S40 would have still be light weight, and low seat height. She could maneuver it rather easily. For a slight price difference and no headache of trading it next summer it would have been worth the investment. However, she will still have a lot of fun this summer.
Lol, ofc she tells me, but you want a 250. She did not understand that I want a 250 to commute in the city. I have had bigger bikes and really DONT want a 250 but it will serve its purpose as a commute to work, its not for pleasure rides.
If the S40 was offered in Spain I would get one. Still over 70MPG, easy maneuvering in the city, light weight, and still has room to play! However, I have been reading into the Honda VTX 250, it looks like I may not have to sacrifice too much pleasure with said bike.
We shall see how the cards play out.
