    Even in the slow destruction...

... of time, there is beauty to be seen in these derelict buildings.

Beauty and pity in each of those pictures...

My feelings, on the spot. It's really hard to describe the immensity of the buildings, the art, the sweat, and the blood; being slowly reclaimed by time.

There's really quite a photo hobby around this stuff these days. Often called URBEX (Urban Exploration), and pretty much worldwide. I'm always amazed when places are abandoned "intact." Libraries still full of books, etc.

When I look at a lot of this, it makes me think that humanity isn't all that evolved afterall. Even some of our hardest work becomes our bitch when it stops paying the bills / being fun, etc. The rust belt is chock full of this. Put a $5 padlock on the gate and walk away...

Reminds me of a scene from HG Wells' Time Machine. I imagine the whole world will look like this when man has evolved back to the primordial slime.

Detroit, in those pictures, looks just like Chernobyl. No. Not intended to be humorous.

There is both beauty of a sorts and tragedy in so many of these pictures. Can you imagine what those buildings, those interiors, looked like in their heyday?
