    Yaesu FT-840 w/FM board

Yaesu FT-840 w/FM board and power lead (Fused). It has an out-of-band mod done by the prior owner, I've just never undid it.

    Price: $500 + Shipping

Never been in a smoking environment (Previous owner didn't smoke either). Not mint, it has some scuffing on the side panel. Otherwise, 100% functional, as I am pulling it from service.

Would you be interested in a swap for a HP G62-355DX Laptop? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=4308434 It's no gaming machine, but it works well. It is about a year old.

Never mind. I just found out how crappy this thing is if Youtube reviews are accurate.

I know the radio well. When I was a new ham in 2003, my Elmer suggested I get an HF rig to listen too while I was studying for my upgrade and to help me learn code. I thought it was an awesome idea and I bought a FT-840 on QRZ for $350 and it had the FM Board which was a good price because at that time AES had them for just under $500 new and the FM board was extra. I threw the mic in a drawer (Technicians had no privileges on HF at the time), strung up a wire and had a blast for months just listening (and sending stupid "I hear you" emails to those I heard). After several months making no progress with CW I became discouraged and traded the rig for a Yaesu FT-7100 with low receive (One of my stoopid moments).

So, it was my first HF rig and one of my favorite rigs.

So you see, I had no problem trading a laptop that is selling for nearly $500. But some computer store owner on YouTube says it is junk. I knew it was no gaming laptop, and some other PC reviews I read online made that very clear, but they also say that it is a good laptop for the price.

I just don't want to pass something along that might come back to haunt me.

Good man. That kind of sportsmanship keeps people off Badham.com.
