    Yes, one CAN discuss those sorts of things over here, particularly when they're of a technically oriented nature.

    'DEY, if you come across this:

    Have you had the chance to study your '897's IF scheme? If so: Do the signal paths in AM and SSB differ significantly?

    Here's the technical manual for the 897: http://www.arcticpeak.com/files/FT-8...Supplement.pdf

    On page 8, it describes the scenario that AM and SSB signals don't diverge until after the second IF circuit, and then are fed into the demodulator circuit.

    I see a low-pass filter in the SSB RX signal path that isn't present in the AM RX path... :chin:
