When was the last time you saw this happen?

    From today's FCC Daily Digest:

MICHAEL W. PERRY. Issued a monetary forfeiture in the amount of $450 to Michael W. Perry for operating a CB radio transmitter without the requisite authorization and failure to operate a Citizens Band station in conformity with the Rules. Action by: Regional Director, South Central Region, Enforcement Bureau. Adopted: 03/06/2012 by Forfeiture Order. (DA No. 12-340). EB

That part where he takes them to the wrong station is pretty funny.
They should do a little more of this.

Maybe if he sold off some of his amplifiers, he'd have a few more bucks to pay the entire fine.

I'm curious as to what the "illegal" station consisted of. Specific equipment makes & models aren't mentioned in the FCC announcement.

However, the induhvidual in question claimed that the reason he owned the equipment was that he was working on obtaining an Amateur license. Right.

The only reason I go 120 in my Porshe, is I'm working on getting a drivers license.

Hysterically funny to me, a long time ago in a galaxy far away I did it to Roger Nye the FCC guy, dumber than dog shit. The fun began as he tried to look at what was under the blanket on the basement workbench and I grabbed his arm saying the CB is THIS way. He tried to BS me and I told him to get a search warrant, that was when I realized how easy he was to outsmart. Then as he tried to screw an N connector into an SO-239 the fun began, the next downhill step was trying to read a 27MHz 5W signal on a Bird watt meter with a 450MHz 100W slug in it. Would you believe I had to show him how to operate everything he dragged in? Yeah, I'm sure you do. The cherry came when he commented on my puny 3W that didn't square with the 30W he measured with a field strength meter the night before, got me thinking... is that ALL my Johnson Ranger puts out?

If the individual in question hadn't been interfering with his neighbors by means of an ostensibly "dirty" amplifier, the FCC would never have come a'knocking. They're complaint-driven. Likewise, if a "non-certificated" transceiver isn't making a nuisance of itself, odds are the operator will never be caught.

It goes without saying, however, that some of those ops aren't the brightest bulbs on the string...
