    George, here's your HX-500!

    I saw this one in person last week at the Mansfield, OH mid-winter hamfest - along with the receiver and speaker:

    The seller is an absolute knob for what he's asking. Good luck with the sale. May you find an even bigger knob to buy it.

    True. The last one I knew of advertised online went for less than half that amount.

    Saw what you posted on the zed. It reminded me that a local just sold a Johnson 500 about 5 months back for about half that price. He had a few nice valiant's for sale too.

    The HX-500 is a cool transmitter , but on AM it runs low level audio, and the carrier has to be turned back to about 20 watts. The Johnson 500 puts out about 360 watts of carrier. What would you rather have for AM?
