    7.044 right now...

on PSK31.... Somewhere around 7.044 anyway. Hard to tell for sure on the Atlas -- which is why I stay at least a few kc away from band edges.

The best 40M PSK frequency (at least for me) is 7035. I get too much RTTY/CW interference on 7044.

Will try 40 a little later this evening.

Sorry, missed the post. Be happy to give it a shot later this evening, but I'm thinking the HF bands won't be worth a crap based on the news at spaceweather.com.

INCOMING CME: Active sunspot 1401 erupted on Jan. 19th around 16:30 UT, producing an M3-class solar flare and a full-halo coronal mass ejection (CME). The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory recorded the cloud expanding almost directly toward Earth:

Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab say strong geomagnetic storms are possible when the cloud arrives this weekend. Their animated forecast track predicts an impact on Jan. 21st at 22:30 UT (+/- 7 hrs).

6M might be interesting later tonight. Anyone up for some auroral-E work?

6M should be packed. It's the ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes. http://www.arrl.org/january-vhf-sweepstakes The sun couldn't have timed that CME much better.

I don't have 6m and I won't be around this evening. Gonna have to shoot for another day, maybe tomorrow.

Right now I'm running the rig off the brand-new car battery I swiped out of the Intrepid before I junk it and keeping it topped off with a solar charger. So I actually have full power capability, at least for a couple hours a day.

I'm not planning on going anywhere tomorrow. I'll try to keep an eye on the Island and if I see you post that you have time to play I'll make a dash for the shack.
