    getting our feet wet....

Since December 1st we had a deluge of rain here, and high temperatures, and storm after storm.
Lots of water damage in our lower laying ground, dikes breaking, houses in 3 or mor feet water.
I don't have a problem with water here, but the 60-70 knot winds did some damage here.

Had to take one Ham antenna down, just one pipe bent, easy fix, just a bitch to set up again ( 77 feet inverted L alu pole in sections) and one element of a directional beam broken, easy fix too, just have to get on the roof for it.

Bitumen cover from th neighbours sheds gone ( last storms did the same to other sheds) mine is fine, but i build it myself.

Some branches broke from trees, in the nothern section of our country "polders" ran under 3 or more feet of water, people and animals evecuated, inland dikes broke through setting these lower laying polders under water.
Since the storm comes from the north west the sealevel is high, and the water cannot be ran off to the sea, so the inland level still rising through the saturated ground and new rain.

We had over 200 mm rain since December 1st, normal in such time would be 60 mm.
From saturday the wind will turn south west and the water can be ran off to the sea again.
We have even put back in service the steam driven waterppumping station build in 1920 here in the province that can drain 4000cubic meters per minute...... the old geezers designing those enormous pumps knew what they made..... blimey...
It's the worlds largest steam driven waterpumping station with the largest capacity.
It is on the World heretage list as cultural heretage.
Capacity 4000 cubic meters per Minute...

We've had about 2" of snow this winter, most of it falling on Monday and Tuesday of this week. In stark contrast is the 2011 winter, where feet upon feet fell and we got no relief from below-freezing temperatures for many weeks at a time.
