    A weird bridge

    http://collabcubed.com/2011/11/18/th...-8-architects/

Spanning roughly 42 meters, this bicycle and pedestrian bridge called ‘The Twist’ bridge for its contorted and sculptural lines, connects the Holy-Zuid district and the Broekpolder over Vlaardingse Vaart in The Netherlands. Designed by West 8 Architects with structural engineers ABT, the bright red bridge makes for a lovely and striking surprise in the natural green setting.

    One of many piccies

Too bad we Amerikans are much too staid to invest in such wonderfully whimsical designs. Any form of art here must be mandated by acquisition law, and even then the complaints of the booboisie often outpoll those of the few connoisseurs with taste outside of their tongues. We are mostly a nation of jakes and bumpkins.

I for one am arguably the most non conformist but I find the structure above quite unpleasing to the eye. To me it smacks of unkempt design if not total failure.

    Not always:

The Sundial Bridge is located in Redding, CA, which is proof that even bumpkins can get it right once in a while.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Personally i like the design, different, daring, and refreshing other as the standard run of the mill bridges ;)
The above one is another example that lets you stop and have a better look.
