    Angry Water Does Not Rehydrate

So now a group of E.U. self-appointed? experts meeting in Italy have told the European Union states that they must not suggest on bottled water labels that the contents can be used for rehydration. There is a massive fine for any bottled water supplier who disobeys this new rule.

I presume we must use beer instead if we're thirsty and save the bottled water for extinguishing fires.

Actually, Hugh, what they are saying is strictly true. The water will replace the lost water, but not the lost electrolytes -- and both are needed for rehydration.

Yes, my doctor neighbour was surprised when, after a bout of diarrhea lasting several days, I told him that I'd made my own rehydrating, electrolyte drink with water, a little salt and sugar. He was a beer drinker. We like listening to all his empty bottles going into the garbage/rubbish truck at 7am every Tuesday morning.

I saw a dehydrated cat on the roadside get rehydrated once after a good long rain.

Very true, just be sure to puncture the aluminium cans or they won't dissolve.

The best approach is to see a doctor for serious dehydration. They can add electrolytes and needed fluids via IV if needed.

Visit your local mechanic or truck stop. All the electrolyte you might need.
