Makes me doubly glad I didn't have to go out on the road in an 18-wheeler after all. I hate chaining one of those bastards up to get it over Cabbage or Donner; it seems to take forever.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

What do the chainers on I-80 charge for a rig? I know the going rate when I lived in Truckee was $40 for a car.

Dunno if its even legal for the chainers to touch a big rig...DOT and liability makes.me think.so...
Nevertheless, if its bad enough to.chain up, its bad enough to tell dispatch to go fuck themselves, Im parking it!
Encrypt everything. Even if you have nothing to hide. It increases the noise floor.

There is something to be said for that and when it got really bad that's what I'd do. But when the storm had passed and weather was clear but the road still icy, well, I was paid by the mile so I wasn't making any money sitting in a truck stop.

I don't know, I always did it myself. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever even seeing someone offer to chain up a big rig.

I came outta Salt Lick one morning in heavy snow (all night too) 35 mph right behind the snow plow southbound on I-15 in my little Toyota Tercel without snow tires.
Been over Monida with same car many times in snow and strong cross wind.
Don't use snow tires here either.
