    Cameras for Christmas?

Recent flooding in Thailand has submerged the Nikon and Sony camera factories there:

This is the Nikon plant that produces The D300s and lower ("consumer") digital SLRs.

If you're thinking of buying, these models are expected to become scarce soon.

Yeah, hard drives are a concern too. We went ahead and ordered a bunch of drives for our storage clusters just in case.. we lose a drive or two a week (out of thousands). We typically don't keep spares, just order them as they fail.. hoarding! Weee.. ;)

No mention of Canon? Good. Canons are better!!! ;)

Not really...Canon vs. Nikon is a debate with no clear winner.

But I DO wonder if Nikon makes anything close to a Canon G10, 11, or 12? Never looked to see.

Seems like Nikon is starting to catch up in the P&S arena. Canon always did rule that market. DSLR stuff appears to be a dead heat with Canon winning the populist vote.

No matter, just take good pics. <g>
