    Spices

Those of you that don't know about Penzey's are really missing out. You won't believe the difference between the 10 year old junk on the grocery store shelf and what you get from these folks. Pricey, but your taste buds will appreciate it.

I try to grow most of the herbs I use, but this looks like a great source for the hard-to-grow ones :) Thanks!

There was this great spice store that I used to go to on the corner of 6th street and 1st ave in Manhattan/. Actually he was an Indian/Pakistani grocery that sold everything from incense and candles to virtually every spice imaginable. He also used to sell in bulk, so if you need a lot of a particular spice you could get them in anything ranging from large jars to large sacks. Not sure if they are still there anymore. Gotta check one day.

Anyway's thanks for the link. Looks like they got some good stuff.

Wonder if you're talking about a shop called, I think, Angelina's. I think that one was at 1st and 8th...but it could been 6th, too. Had all sorts of herbs in bulk that you bought by weight. Also had a library where you could look up what herbs you wanted/needed. The guy behind the counter was named (and I"m spelling it phonetically) Collie-pony. Don't think I'm even close to the real spelling....but that's how it's said. Didn't find anything on the web about it, also didn't see in on Google Earth. Best bet is it's long gone...but it'd be fun to go down as see what's there now.

The Feds think all of these herb places are all trying to sell marijuana.
