    Halloween as an indicator

Halloween is so big here huge empty buildings that were once supermarkets or dept stores are temporarily being used exclusively to sell Halloween items. Large portable banners are draped across their fronts alerting the public.
I believe the more affluent, the more educated the people in an area, the less the importance of Halloween.
Front yard displays of the sacred day are everywhere as adults try to outdo each other with all the accoutrements imaginable.

We go all-out for Halloween and so does the neighborhood. We have anywhere from 500-1000 kids come through to get candy. We give out the Sour Straws.

    Usually spend about $500.00

ETA: All the neighbors are PHD's, MD's, or Professors at the local University. And a couple of bank pres's and investment people. So education does represent the importance (or fun) of the night.

Halloween always reminds me of my mother-in-law. Nuff said.
