    I STARTED

While the latest birthday has come and gone, I got to thinking about how my life activities and experiences would go unheard when my time comes. So I started writing an autobiography. It will be boring to most (99.999%), but entertaining to my descendants. Thinking about it, I wish I knew the whole story about relatives before me. Things like "My grandmother being the first female to drive a car in Greensboro NC". Simple stuff that means nothing to anyone else, but means the world to others. Have any of the rest of you documented your life for "your" generations to come? I have actually found this quite entertaining, bringing back a ton of memories.

Yeah right, Blacky (my dog) needed room in the country so he could play.

My ancestors wrote a book. "The wealth she Gathered".

Ranks up there in the little house on the prairie books for Kansas stories. My dad's mom was Alice Cooper of this Cooper family. So this author was my great grandmother. It was not easy living back then. Internet sucked and cell phones did not work well. Ipods used the old MP0 format.

So what are your chapters? What will you deal with? Will it get you in trouble at your place of employment?

    Will it be on Facebook?

I don't do Facebook or Twitter.

Right now I am profiling/discussing the different neighbors of my childhood, with my earliest recollection being in the hospital (at 3 years of age) having surgery. This will be at a leisurely pace, no rush.

My descendents will have to be satisfied with technical papers and blatherings about the use of low noise circuits.

I have often though of doing the same thing. We can trace our relatives (somebody did a family tree) back through John Hays marrying Suzanne Boone (Daughter of Daniel Boone) in MO, on back to the old country (Scotland or Ireland) on my dad's side and back to my Grandmothers parents (Mom's side) coming here with 4 little girls from what is now Poland in 1902.

My life has been eventful. I could talk about growing up in Eastern PA, moving to the Illinois in my teens, running away at 16. Hitch hiking around the country for 2 years and learning to drive a truck while doing so. Gosh, there is so much!

But how did you get to where you could "blather"? Did you ever ride your bike over a homemade ramp, only to have your bike go one way and you the other? That's the stuff I'm writing about.

Like one of the stories my dad told me (and there weren't many). He told me about riding in a car, about 50 MPH, with a friend (Litzenburg or SHITZT LITZY as he was known). Litzy said, "Watch how close I can get to those parked cars. He said they side swiped about 6 cars. My dad told him that he got real close. Obscure things like that make for an interesting life.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Write it, put in a secure place and have copies handed out to your family after you are gone. You don't need to put the story about the Billy Goat in there. You shape your legacy (the goat has been dead for years, he ain't talking).
