    Strange Night

Strange night tonight. On my way home I met a lot of people who were very talkative. Much much more than usual. I think many of them stopped off a long the way for some of their favorite beverages. I think it has to do with the approaching storm. A lot of people are worried and/or in anticipation. Either that or its that they sense the approaching change in barometric pressure. But people just seemed more friendly than usual. I wish people were like this more of the time.

Has this hurricane thrown any thunderstorms or tornadoes into its mix ?

According to NOAA, there's a possibility of tornadoes. Scroll to the very bottom.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Velocity fields, flux lines, curl(*) etc. Lot of interesting physics and math taking place in the atmosphere right now. Where is Dr. Richard Feynman when we need him ?

He's dead, Jim, but I like to think of him in the afterlife playing bongos and doing Tuvan overtone singing:

I saw these guys live once, it was awesome.

Seems like the storm center will be passing over Long island and close to Southern NYC (i.e. Brooklyn, Queens), Southern Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. It's estimated to pass east of Springfield Mass by Mid Afternoon Sunday. At least 70 mph winds expected. That section of Mass got hit with some bad tornadoes earlier. This has been a rough spring-summer.

that is amazing. of course I hope Richard is still doing some Physics in the world beyond. As a modern day contemporary Dr. Feynman had an incredible ability to integrate (no pun intended) the Physics and the Mathematical aspects of the most commonplace things that we often take for granted.

When you're in the great beyond, it seems probable that, being no longer trapped in a physical body, you already know all the secrets of the universe, ergo, no need for physics. That is, IF there's a great beyond. If not, then you're in a beautiful sleep.

You still need Physics. You've gotta unravel what's beyond the great beyond.
