You got me started. Andy's Gang was the greatest, strangest show on Saturday monring TV. Natch, Andy "Jingles" Devine was a ham, so you wouldn't expect anything less than capering evil squeeze toy Froggy humiliating all manner of blowhard authority figures, backed up by musician cat Midnight and mouse Squeaky shackled to their tiny instruments. All this while the Fat Man heaved with maniacal laughter and the same film clip of cheering kids looped over and over, a vision straight from an Insane Clown Posse video. Also in that vein, I saw a lot of Froggy the Gremlin in S.Clay Wilson's "Checkered Demon" character.

I also remember Bertie the Bunyip and I too never realized its namesake's monstrous reputation until recently, when I came across a description while Googling for a picture of the puppet. Little more than the name rattled around in my noggin since the 50s, back there with Rootie Kazootie, Koko the Clown and Tinker the Toymaker, speaking of visions straight on Insane Clown Posse videos.

And, lest we forget, Andy's Gang was the genesis of "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy", which has taken on an meaning of it's own in the intervening years.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

    And Mister Rivets
Willie the Worm sounds familiar but no visual recognition. Mr Rivets is a complete blank.
There was Sir Guy de Guy, and Fussy & Gussy, but I think they were part of the Bertie the Bunyip gang.

Ok, a bit off topic. Hey Bill, do you remember the League Island crane in the Navy Yard. The thing was friggin huge.

Just after World War I, a 350-ton capacity hammerhead crane was ordered for the yard. Manufactured in 1919 by the McMyler-Interstate Company in Bedford, Ohio, the crane was called the League Island Crane by its builder. Weighing 3,500 tons, the crane was shipped to the yard in sections, and it was the world's largest crane at the time. The "League Island Crane" was for many years the Navy's largest crane.
