If you're going to use the scale, do one with several bands stacked over each other.

Maybe tweak it so the palm tree(s) become the cursor?
It could be one tree, or a pair of trunks with the space between as the cursor.
Or the moon with clouds could be the cursor, with mirror imaged palm trees on either side.
Or maybe a drink umbrella as a cursor... or a Gretchen Cone?
