Remember all this when China becomes the ONLY source for affordable amateur radio gear. I said affordable, not cheap. Wouxun is now considered mainstream and there are one or two HF rigs coming out of Beijing that are at second generation status in design and production.
Alinco has moved to China (could be old news here) and there are a couple of kits available with very poorly translated instructions. Chinese military radios are available on the web everyday and while there are still a few more hurdles to jump, they are shrinking these old designs and adding some modern features.
Japan will still make great rigs but the future of the manufacturing output of Japan is up in the air right now.
Someone will figure on translating manuals for those Chinese rigs and make a fortune doing so. All the same bullshit whining now being made about China was once said about Japan. Then about Korea.
