    Joseph Heller's Picture This

Here's one review from the New York Times. (See below about this link)

The review does a really good job of describing what's in the book. What I'm noticing is that some the words in that book are so very, very close to the conditions we're seeing today, especially as they talk about war, democracy, economics, and justice. I'll post some quotes later.

The book IS very funny at times.

Note: That link, if used directly, leads you to a login page. Boo!!! Hiss!!

If you google "joseph heller Picture This" and find the hit "The New York Times: Book Review Search Article", that will get you to the review without logging in. Or, use this link to the google cache.

If it's a war on drugs, then free the POW's.

Okay, you got me. I just ordered a used copy through Amazon for four bucks including shipping.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

    Enjoy!

I should have added that the book is different from Catch-22...it doesn't have the non-stop zany-ness of that one. It's more cerebral and subtle. But some of the one-liners that Mr. Heller drops are priceless.

My copy just arrived! I'll probably start on it this evening.
