Mean no offense, but why are you or would you do this at all? Ever?

Let's jump forward to Feburary.
I returned the equipment to the Chicken-Band-Charlie (henceforth AKA as "CBC") and he again proceeds to travel the length of Interstate Highway I-71 from Cleveland, Ohio to Louisville, K-Y hauling the RF deck and B+ power supply; he even spends nights in hotel/motel rooms while the out-of-town "Teks" look at his "Box".
It seems that a fellow in "4-Land" offer to fix it for him at a cost of $1,500 providing that the owner provides a 3CX-10,000 and socket for a rebuild. CBC's "Champagne Dreams" are in direct conflict with his "Beer Budget".
CBC contacts me and tells me that he wants me to restore his equipment and then shows up at my door with it. This is back at the end of March.
At this point, my interest is only Academic, I wanna know what has transpired inside the "Box" since he has allowed every "Swingin-Dick" within a 277 mile radius (I forgot to mention Indianapolis, In.) to screw around inside the equipment. Let me interject this: This is a "Chess Match", I am thinking 4 steps ahead and, I have no intentions what-so-ever of repairing this amplifier. After seeing what had been done and listening to what the owner said, I parked the scrap in a back closet until he received 2 NOS Vacuum Variables from the Ukraine Republic. All was quiet for about 3 months.
There was never a discussion of price for me to repair the equipment (intentional on my part) so, after CBC gets his parts shipment, he shows up ready for me to proceed to repair his equipment. I told him that it is now tiime for us to discuss price since he has purchased all of his necessary replacement parts. I informed CBC that I wanted 10% of what the Louisville "Tek" final price was to get started and, the delivery price would be "Two and 1/2 Fat Men" when I got finished. I was offering to re-establish the integrity of the equipment for a little over 20% of what he had been quoted by someone else.
CBC hit the ceiling at my suggestion that he pay me any amount to start and thought that there was some room for negotiations on the final price; CBC's strategy was to insinuate that he had intimate knowledge of my finances and, that he was doing me a favor by bring his work to me and, that I shouldn't be charging him "that much". I, according to him was just trying to "Get" him.
Having already anticipated his reaction, I internalized my joy at having a reason to turn him away. I feigned righteous indignation at the nerve of this person coming into my home and and demanding that I repair a piece of equipment that he and countless others have "taken a dump in" for the price that he wants to pay, not what I charged.
It was at that point that I told that fellating Chicken-Band idiot to get his "effing shyte" out of my house, I didn't want it or his money; he demanded that I reassemble it in the manner in which he delivered it to me and, I treated him just like AAMCO Transmission Repair, I was not getting paid for any of the dis-assembly, diagnostic, repair and, storage so, he could take it just like it was: covers flapping, hardware in plastic bags and electrical assemblies (Triode Control Boards) left unconnected from circuitry. He was not moving quickly enough so, I assisted him in carrying the stuff to his Cadillac SDS Coupe.
I feel good!
