Brit convicted of willful interference to amateur radio operators

A British man was convicted and sentenced on November 22 for causing deliberate interference to Amateur Radio users and unlawfully using radio equipment without a license.

    http://www.rsgb.org/news/newsitem.php?id=1

The British equivalent of the FCC charged that the man kept his radio equipment in his van and would drive all over the region and park outside homes, jamming signals in an effort to interfere with hams who were operating legally.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Everybody needs a reason to wake up in the morning. What will this poor slob do now? How will he deal with his deep seated hatred towards Amateur radio operators in Hull who he walked in on one night giving it to his mother?

    The nerve of that wanker!

    What's worse:

"This conviction shows that deliberate interference will not be tolerated and can have serious consequences for the perpetrator."
    Sentencing?

"He was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for 18 months, a curfew between 7pm and 7am for 3 months via a means of electronic tagging and forfeiture of his van and radio transmitters to Ofcom."
That's almost  material...just like seizing the car of a drunk driver. They ALWAYS end up behind the wheel of another one, and almost always hurt someone other than themselves in the process.
"Everyone wants to be an AM Gangsta until it's time to start doing AM Gangsta shit."

    Hello.

Unlike in the US, you do not simply go out and buy a car in the UK.
First, you get approved for the purchase.
And, unlike in the US, simple possession of some types of radio equipment can land one in jail, even receivers.

No need for approval for owning a car, the UK is not the old Russki territory.. ;)
You DO need valid paperwork drivers license, car insurance, road tax sticker on the window, and pay the tax when buying a new car.
Cars/vans are quite expensive here and in the UK, add insurance, and road tax, he will be some serious pounds backwards now

The USE of transmitters where you have no license for is punishable by the law yes, not having them, same as here.
Scanners? other radio's, not forbidden either.

Thanks for cutting through the piles of steaming BS, Cor. It's amazing the stuff that gets put out as truth, when those of us who live or have lived in certain parts of the world can see right through the bovine scat.

Though the mere fact of how some are really in the dark of facts are scaring me....
