About 2/3rds could be trimmed.
I use everything for an antenna, semi-truck trailers work very well. ;)
Common household objects, like an umbrella, can be pressed into service or rebuild for this task.
The tape measure antenna works well and is very cheap.

Find a good used crane, there are plenty out there. ;)
