Sure do. QRO, even - though the antenna is a vertical.

I would like to get togetter with some of you "Wild and Crazy Guys" but right now I am limited to 40 metters. Charles I like your fishing pole idea to get other end of my dubblet up but I am having problems with my knee and back yard is not flat here. I will keep checking the thread.

I can do 40m; I'd need to build an antenna to get out well on 17m but it would be easy enough to throw together a wire dipole for the occasion.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Use the biggest rod you have, a 2 to 3 oz sinker, 30lb or better testline, and a steel leader with a swivel and easy on and off clips. I don't remember exactly what they are called. Cast high and short. When it drops, unhook the sinker and attach your rope.

Maybe I can con my son-in-law into helping me on Wed. The thing about 40 is it's ether long or short so I may not hear Fred since he is close to my QTH but lets see what happens sounds like fun. Carlos keep an ear open on 40, if we can't do phone do you have PSK? I will be around 7070.15 watching the waterfall.

Not only can I do PSK31, it's my preferred mode. Due to my rather primitive antenna set-up, I get out best via the digital modes.

Have we set a day/time for this confabulation yet? Is it going to be on Thanksgiving day itself or the day after? If it's on T-day, that could cause problems for me; because of the time difference, it's likely I'll be just setting down to eat at the same time the tryptophan is wearing off all the rest of you.

One more thing, set it up so you can tie the rope off near ground level without excess rope hanging about to reduce critter accidents and mischief. This will also allow you to just attach more rope to lower a section for whatever reasons may come up.
Don't ask me why but rope has gotten pretty expensive these days. At 15 cents a foot, 600 feet will run you $90. I found some ugly rope for $2.48 per 50 feet. Ugly? It is mostly pink but I got all the blue and green I could find. Strong stuff though. I got a 100' length of black dacron UV proof for 10 bucks 2 years ago at Shelby. Dunno how much it is today.

Anyway, stay safe, wear your eye and head protection when casting and pulling rope and wire through trees. You could seriously hurt yourself from falling dead limbs. And there will be falling limbs.

Let's shoot for the day after.

That Friday is usually pretty boring.
