    What are you complaining?

    We're used to pay top prices here ( Tax) 1 liter diesel is € 1.14 gas is € 1.42 x 3.785 = $ 6.08 for a US Gallon diesel and $ 7.53 for a Gallon gas....
    Using the exchange rate of 1 € = 1.40 US €

Add road tax, provincial tax and we still drive.

But a trip to Italy for you is about the same distance to Grandma's house. This is a bigass country.

I drive 26 miles one way to work.

    Last job i had ( 3 years ) was a one way trip of 131 Km's or 262 a day 6 days a week.
    Or 164 miles a day.
We are expected to drive up to 100 miles one way to work, above that we can book a hotel.
    You were saying?

Does your Granny live 1100 miles away then?
    ;)

We have the occasional SUV here, even thhe odd Hummer 1/2 but most drive the beamers/volvo's/vw etc economic cars and lots on diesel.
I drive a van, 2.5 TD wife a small car Hyundai type with 40 miles to the gallon.
My van 25 miles a gallon.
Both will hit 100 miles+ if needed, but we never do.

My van will run just as fine on sunflower oil, peanut oil, or any other thin organic oil, done it for 10.000 miles and more.
Sunflower oil in bulk is 49 eurocents a liter.
    Diesel now 1.12 Eurocents.
Just having fun looking at people's faces in France when you come out of the supermarket and start to empty the 5 liter cans of sunflower oil in my tank.
    Priceless
