    10 year old pineapple wine..

I made some pineapple wine 10 years ago today. Last tried some 9 years ago and it was pretty horrid stuff, but I could never bring myself to throw it out. Forgot about it for years till we moved this past summer and I found it stored away.

Well I figured that today after the visit to the doc was a good day to rot my gut, so I popped open a bottle and had a glass.

Amazing what 10 years will do to a wine. Nice and sweet with a dry finish. Fruity flavor with little that would hint at pineapple. It has darkened over the years as well (from what I can remember). Dark blond color now, pretty sure it was lighter last I tried some.

If this first glass does not kill me or make me go blind I may have another.

I thought you were going to say you had it with a ham pizza.

When they say it'll make you go blind, I don't think they mean the wine.

RR on the age. About three years ago, a friend of mine who was cleaning out his liquor cabinet after he had given up drinking gave me an unopened bottle of very cheap brandy. Or, at least it was very cheap back when it bought it--in 1981. Funny what 25 years in the bottle can do to even crappy store-brand hootch. It was as smooth as a really fine cognac.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Maybe that is why it looks darker to you now.

    Pineapple wine? I think not...
