    Not finding it here, but it's the same connector the VX-8R uses for an external mic, if that broadens the search any.

    Yes indeed. That cable is marketed for use with both the -10SR and the VX8.

    I fired off an e-mail to Yaesu's customer support last evening. Not holding my breath but it sure would be nice to source a few of those.

    That narrows it a bit - I doubt the connector is of Japanese or U.S. manufacture.

    Hello.

    I took a marine mic and plugged it into a VX-8R and it will mate but the connections are wrong.
    This is where I got the designation information from, a remarketed marine radio, no further information.

    Hello.

    Japanese Defense Forces radio connector.
    Pre-molded mic connector is around $35 US.
    The Yaesu cable is about the same price.
    That microphone I was playing with is around $120 to $130.
    Amateur may not be built to the same standards as military but it is also a whole lot cheaper!
