Things They Say Across The Big Pond

I love my friends in England and the UK.
Recently, my friend Suzie wrote on her FB wall, "aching all over and with a dicky tummy. (a very unwelcome) welcome back to the winter vomiting virus!"

If I'm coming to knock you up in the morning, should I bring a rubber?
Whatever side of the planet you're on, what are some of your favorite language differences? :)

some of my most enjoyable moments were listening to dx stations where the op's second language was English learned from someone with a cockney accent. So we're talking a very heavy original tongue accent (say French) AND the nominally spoken cockney English. It can be a riot.

Having a suck off a fag means something entirely different in the U.K. that it would in the U.S.

Excuse me, I must hoover the flat.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
