My 12 year old son has joined band.
He's really good on piano,and keyboard,but wants to play Sax.
I'm looking for cool solos to hike his interest.

Trane might be an inspiration. At least as much of an inspiration as you'll find other than perhaps Bird.

Search out Coleman Hawkins, Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Jimmy Hamilton (more clarinet than sax, but both) and Charlie Parker. If the kid is not sufficiently inspired by them, switch to a cello and Google Morey Amsterdam.

The best to your son, the sax is too hard for me to work. Too expensive to "try" out. I stuck with strings, and keyboards much easier (too me).Originally Posted by W5IEI
