190, it's cheap as hell in Mexico, and very wicked, for it's made of spent/rotten sugar cane

I have a favorite way to use a bottle of Everclear. Take a med to large watermelon. Cut out a plug at both ends perpendicular to the center. Place an open bottle of Everclear in one plug.Let the liquor drain halfway. The draining may take 2 hours. Remove, and place in other plug hole. When drained replace plugs, set out in direct sunlight for at least 8 hours. Place in fridge over night. Enjoy.

The slices are sweet, and potent. After 2 pieces of cold sweet water melon, I was talking like thisssh. Vodka, or 151 rum works as well. There is a refrigerator version on you tube. I have only personally done the sun roasted version.

I asked for PGA and Everclear at the local state run ABC and they said nada, no chance, don't sell it, can't have it.
Wish they'd hurry up and privatize those stores here. The state gubmint is just plain not good at it and it looks like the fricken DMV, but with bottles everywhere.
Not a very appealing shopping experience. Virginia could learn a lot from Tennessee.

But, but, they have free samples now! Must be a timing thing, though, no freebies on my last two trips!

OK, not only do we Everclear, we have all the trendy "moonshines" being sold under trendy old time names and logos. Everclear is cheap, it will take paint off a metal wall and even when cut in half will still remove the lining from your esophagus. If you were to divide it by 6 equal portions you would still be drinking 31.66 proof. That's almost 16% alcohol and that's a lot of drinks for a small party. One quart mixed would yield 6 quarts and that's a gallon and a half.

Yeah, I heard that rumor too. But, like you, never actually seen physical proof.:chin:

    Hello.

In Mexico, pure grain alcohol comes in grades, like hats.
The real cheap stuff will have no markings, the better stuff will have an X or 2, XX, or more.
2 XXs and you have Dos Equis,

The X thing is subjective but the proof is not.
However, rotgut alcohol is nearly pure grain alcohol that is very cheap, a 5 gallon measure into your container will set you back around $12.
This is about as cheap as it gets.
I buy the little bit better grade and some cheap Vodka as well as Tequila, all the cheap stuff.
Rum can be had that is of very high quality at a good price.

Seems to me it should be available everywhere, assuming it has the appropriate state tax stamp on it. I know we can get it here (in ND). I remember drinking it. Once. When I was in college, I threw up for a night, and a day. Lime vodka had similar results, but that's another story.

When I was in the Navy (a Corpsman), back in the early 70's, one guy got a hypodermic syringe and a 10-gauge needle and injected a bodacious-size cantaloupe with Everclear, at a huge party we had near Seattle. Results similar to suddenseer's post above.

I know it's a good disinfectant. It is also rumored to kill crabs.
