I've never seen it for sale anywhere around here. But I'll have to look into it. Otherwise I can get it in Jersey (hopefully) or Maryland.
In college organic chem lab we used to have drums of it. Pure reagent and pharmaceutical grade absolute Ethanol suitable for internal use, pharmaceutical preparation.

According to info here , the 190 proof stuff is not available in NY , it's unclear if the 151 is or not . Some folks use it to make their own custom liquors . I have recipe I'll share with you in PM that you may enjoy , a very special liquor created by a friend of mine , an avid gardener . ;)

I generally do research before I speak. Why ? because that is how I was trained. Go look up the laws. Pure 190 proof (95%) azeotropic grain alcohol (which is what everclear is) cannot be sold as a liquor in New York State. If anyone is selling it in NYS they are violating the laws.
There is a 75% (150 proof) version of everclear (or similar) that I believe CAN be sold in New York. But 190 proof booze cannot be legally sold in NYS.
Don't take my word for it. Go look it up yourself.

Anyone ever have the cojones to attempt a shot of Everclear? I haven't...heard it can be fatal.
If it's a war on drugs, then free the POW's.
It's not a matter of "having the cajones" its more a matter of common sense. Absolute alcohol is a bit too strong to apply to the tissues of the mouth, throat, and digestive tract. It can be extremely irritating. It is also very strong, remember it is close to 2.5 times the strength of the "hard liquor" that most people are used to. Thus a single shot of everclear is like having 2.5 shots of regular 80 proof liquor, something to keep in mind if you are drinking Everclear straight or using it to make mixed drinks. I would advise mixing it with water or something. Drinking straight azeotropic 95% grain alcohol straight is not advisable.

Yeah. I saw a young woman do it because she said she didn't want no watered down alcohol. Shot went down and 10 seconds later she was puking blood for nearly 15 minutes. I told everyone to give her milk but she wanted water which made the pain last longer. It's just cheap sugar liquor and water does not absorb it like milk or bread. The only thing I use it for is to make extracts. Afterwards I cut it in half with distilled water. Then later when I actually use the extract, I cut it in half again. Vanilla bean extract is simply wonderful.

To my knowledge, Everclear, contains no sugar, albeit the sugars involved in the initial fermentation. Everclear is as close to pure absolute ethanol as you can get, short of pure reagent grade ethanol for lab or pharmeceutical use.
Ethanol is extremely irritating to the mucous linings of the throat and stomach. It's too irritating to drink straight, regardless of how tough anyone might think they are.
