Last time for me was '97. Those were great days - the companies really spent $$$ on hyping their wares.

Unix Expo? And I thought Hamfest Dayton had to be the ultimate nerd conclave. I wonder how the showered/unshowered ratio compares between the two.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

No comparison. Unix Expo was mostly for suited yuppie types working downtown. The attendees were, in part, paying attention to job opportunities and the vendors had their slickest marketeers at the front. Any geeks were behind the scenes. Then the dot com crash came and I don't really know if there even is a Unix Expo anymore.

There used to be a LinuxExpo every year at the Javitz center. I attended it twice. Then they moved it to Boston
I keep my 2 feet on the ground, and my head in the twilight zone.
