when I do a google search I get the green checks from AVG that mean each marked page is safe to open. Does that always exclude the images, which don't seem to ever have any indication good or bad?

I think the green check just means it's safe for your computer. AVG has no way of knowing what the images are.

What we need is a program that lets us know when there's filth present on the other end of a link. Wouldn't want to miss anything good, after all.
