    Navaho Code Talkers Special Event Station

    A very special special event station coming in mid-August...

    From The Southgate Amateur Radio Club Site:

    The Navajo Amateur Radio Club of Window Rock, Arizona is sponsoring
    a Special Events station on the weekend of August 14-15.

    They will be operating under the Special Event call sign of K7B on
    14.265 Mhz and 7.265 Mhz from 1400Z to 0000Z each day.

    Are they using Radio Shack CB's?

    And how are we gonna be able to have a QSO if they're talking in code? Besides, doesn't Part 97 prohibit encrypted communications via ham radio?

    they broadcast in navajo on ktnn out of window rock. you can call in on your mobile. :)

    Hello.

    I think the point of this is that this is an event for code talkers.
    And, amazing as this must sound, there is no violation of any FCC rules, you see, the code in question is the Navaho language.
    The Germans and Japanese simply had no interpreters for Navaho, that is the nature of the secret communications.
    There was no CW involved, just security through obscurity.
    But, even the enigma machine can be put on the air, clearly an encryption machine, you see the rules state that The intent to obscure.
    If I send an encrypted massage in an old war code, but send the massage in the clear as well as instructions on the code as well as the key, no violation has occurred.
