Right click on Internet Explorer and from the menu, pick Send to and from the next menu, pick Desktop.

Me, I would send it to the Recycle Bin, but I'm just a Mac guy at heart. Friends don't let friends use Internet Exploder.

    Well, there is that.

I don't use it either. Get Firefox, Bill, then put THAT on the desktop.

What's interesting is that Windows 7 is the first version that lets you completely remove IE.

If you have a working icon for IE in the Programs Menu, you should be able to:

    1. Click once on any working IE icon, to highlight it
    2. Right Click, Choose Copy, Left Click on Copy
    3. Hide all the open windows to show your Desktop
    4. Right Click on open area of Desktop
    5. Highlight Paste, then Left Click

This is from MicroSquish, read carefully as it applies to Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

Important Windows 7 no longer supports the ability to modify the registry to get the special Internet Explorer icon to appear on your desktop. This change was made to ensure Internet Explorer could be removed easily for compliance reasons. The only way to add the Internet Explorer icon to the desktop in Windows 7 is to create a shortcut as shown in Method 1.
