I want to put a 2 way radio on the scoot, a H-D sportster.
I am looking at the FTM-10SR dual band Yaesu, this is the smaller waterproof package.
I could mount this and look less like a geek,,,,.
Or, find a Motorola radio box and mount whatever radios I want, but will need to find the box and control head.
What would you do?
Get a classic Servi-Car , so you'll have room and can do it in comfort .
You could also install a sidecar and have enough space. You can now be a WHACKER too!

FTM-10SR for VHF/UHF/FM Stereo BC reception and a JMCB2003 for 11M.
3' Firestick for the CB and a Comet helical whip for the Yaesu.

I was able to buy 2 old Motorola boxes as well as a fiberglass NEMA enclosure, or a dozen. ;)
I now have a bunch of water resistant electrical feed through fittings as well as NMO connectors.
For 11 meters a CHP low band antenna mount with a Francis 4 foot will be the answer, a thinner antenna that is the right color.
For VHF/UHF I will consider the Comet offerings.
If done correctly I will blend with the pack.

We have a VX-6R and VX-7R for our bikes, along with MURS, FRS/GMRS and CB gear. The audio from speakers and mic is integrated into the bikes' audio systems (OEM and J&M alike) by the use of Kennedy Technologies "FRSet4" and associated radio interface cables.
Thus, we can cover 11/6/2M, 220/440MHz, 151.x and 154.x MHz MURS allocations, AM/FM BCB and the 462 MHz PRS allocations with seamless PTT/Mic/audio functionality. Rigs are mounted to the bars as needed via RAM mounts. Antennas used on my bike are an Opek HVT-100 (6M and up) or a Comet 144/220/440 tribander and a Hondaline CB antenna - which also feeds the bike's stereo receiver via a Sierra Electronics splitter network. 'DSG's bike can be similarly equipped with antennas - she uses a JMCB2003 as the primary "controller" and integrator base, and a third (spare) touring rig will eventually get the same treatment.
I'm contemplating the addition of an SGC 2020-ADSP to my Valkyrie I/S. The Opek antenna can be configured to work a number of HF bands and I'm thinking along the lines of 10, 12 and 15...maybe 20 and 17 with a modified 20M resonator. I bought spare antennas at Dayton last year specifically for this purpose.

If anyone is interested in duplicating the setup I used, I will be glad to post some "how-to" pics regarding the antenna brackets, antenna mount modifications and other electrical gadgetry needed to make it all work. Jon of Kennedy 'bought' one of my peripheral designs for his Integrator and gave me full rights to distribute the details.
