Do you remember the Rat Shack sound effect chips? Just add some buttons and a battery, you have a Foley in your hand. Suddenly sales plummeted and Shack discontinued them when CB mics started coming with them built in.

Lest I forget, anyone in the NYC Metro area remember the 2M repeater in Linden, NJ? The controller messages were a hoot, Tarzan and Jane had me in stitches, then things got out of hand and the FCC put an end to it. Now what did I say about CB??? :rofl:

I've been hunting for something similar for my kids, I know it's what gave me my jumpstart into electronics.

Hum..mine came from Ramsey I think. But in my defense Rat Shack went downhill when I was just a small boy. Actually I cant remember when I saw anything ham related at rat shack let alone anything worth buying. Last PL259 connector I bought there was in like 2004 and I havent seen one since. I dont even think they sell CB stuff at the local one. As a matter of fact I dont think the local one even sells scanners.

The sell cell phones and...um...I thinking...um...thats about it but IDK I havent been there in quite some time lol.

Oh yea I think walmart sells the all in one lab kits now.
