I would like to postulate that it is impossible to accurately add up a column of numbers, even with the help of a calculator, while the radio is playing The William Tell Overture as performed by Spike Jones and His City Slickers.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

As a more of a kid (than now) I was a huge Spike Jones fan.

Back in the 40's & 50's, his work came out on big 78 rpm platters.

One of my favorites (he did a spot-on impression of Peter Lorrie):

So, I was sitting here at my laptop and I heard something tapping on the window. I turned around and there's a tiny bird of an unknown (to me) species clinging to the outside sill, pecking at the glass. I walked over to the window and put my face within inches of his. He just fixed his beady little eye on me, unfazed. I grabbed my Peterson's Guide to Western Birds, figuring I was never gonna get a better look at a wild bird than this and managed to ID the species within a minute or two: it was a bushtit.

    Bushtit? Bushtit??

    I mean, come on.

You know that the guy who came up with that name must have been some horny old ornithologist who'd been snowbound in his cabin for months on end.
