Sunspot 2733 / Minor Storm Observed
Good morning. Here is a look at the lone spotted region (2733) as it transits near center disk. The sunspot cluster belonging to Cycle 24 has produced minor B-Class flares during the past day, but is not considered a threat for anything stronger than the minor C-Class range. Image below by SDO/HMI
Currently, HF absolutely stinks at these latitudes.
I want to know when to dust off my 6 meter AM tube rig....sure is quiet out there.
AM being next to the worst power hungry mode, FM, it's been my experience that the Collins/Clegg/Gonset crowd only comes out of the woodwork when the band is on fire. The last time I heard 6M AM was the last time around the sun and the band was wall to wall end to end stations. I worked every propagation mode known, transatlantic and trans-equatorial DX, broke the cherry on Nunavut while everybody else was calling to no avail on 20M and the Heathkit SB-110 didn't smell like burning dust. Maybe that's because I spent more time repairing it than using it... like a Harley. (;->) Oh, that was only a half accomplishment, the bums never QSLed. (:-<)
