MORE POWER, and the price is right. :geek
What's a 4 band 10M Amateur Radio? :chin: :shifty
Shame on me for knowing. It has a 40 channel (10khz step) rotary switch, AND a 4 position switch to give it a total of 160 channels or a 1.6 meg freq range.
BTW: Here's some vintage ham radio gear for sale at the local auction.

Gotta throw in a Dixie Stars and Bars faceplate, or no deal!
That box of tx tubes in the upper left is worth over $300.Quote:

Hey, is that one on top a Browning 23 channel... with 22A in the blank spot? Then Comsat had 22A and 22B, makes me wonder how they got type accepted.
Then someone had another idea what a "CB set" is.............
Oh maaaaaaaan! You guys is getting me all flustered heah with that talk of SuperWhack Packs and all!
I feel the need to make my ears bleed, gawd I hope they got the same kind of intelligent conversation on CB over here that I used to hear over there.
Don't forget the D104 with the paperclip attached that you can bend back and release so it strikes it and gives you that nice "PIIIIIIING!" noise......
I got one of those! Do I use a rubber band or just shove it through one of the little holes somewhere in the middle of the round thing?Quote:

The buddy of mine who had one just had it screwed into the stand with the "strike point" being right on the bottom of the mike itself. It worked better than any whistle to "peak" the meters he had hooked to it.Quote:

The ‘ping’ in Browning Golden Eagle was due to the slight laps in the keying relay.
You could adjust it fairly easily to try and eliminate it but most folks liked it and put in a larger capacitor and sometimes even a resistor, so it would last longer.
When I had my CB shop in the mid ‘70’s a lot of folks brought their Browning’s to me so I could extend the time for them. I refused, so they went to a different shop.
Some of the rigs in this area has up to several seconds of that annoying warble going on before the operator could even think about talking.
Personally I hated it.
Same here. The OM had an old Lafayette 23 channel /D-104 which did the same thing. Hated it. OTOH, at that time he was the only one who was pinging so you could copy his ping when you couldn't even hear him.Quote:

Nope, it was a 20uF cap across the mute terminals inside the receiver that held the B+ on until the charge decayed.

I had a nice little racket going for me in the opposite direction, they paid me $20 to de-ping them and I got a perfectly good electrolytic out of the deal.
Oh and BTW, once upon a time there was a klunking contest going on between a few who used Dow Key relays. There were several additions to the big klunkers and soon enough somebody figured out that removing the long cabinet screws from a Valiant made a neat sounding BONK. Not to be outdone someone bolted a water valve solenoid from an old Bendix washing machine to a steel office desk and connected it across the Dow Key. Eat your heart out Browning bozos, back in the late 60s and early 70s channel 21 in New York sounded like the Anvil Chorus!
I leave you with this thought, never mind the paper clip in the D-104 when a wooden ruler stuck under the base makes such an interesting sound and you can play it like a musical instrument too.
