So, last night I'm trolling 80m JT65 and doing my usual CQ DX bit. It's a bit crowded with "locals" (meaning USA hams), making it a little difficult to find a spot to call. I decide to wait a bit to see if things will settle down (it's around 03:30z) and some of these guys will nod off to sleep.
About 03:40z I get the following email from a guy in Alabama:
I write back:Quote:
Subject: Mind if I call you on 80m?
You are calling CQ DX. There isnt any. I need DE on 80m.
I don't get any reply, but then proceed to work ON7ZJ (04:15z), ZS6BUN (04:25z), and EI1DG (04:40z). So much for no DX, eh? :roll:Quote:
Funny, I'm hearing 3 DX stations.

What possesses someone to assume what I can hear and what I can't? Yeah, OK, I get you need DE for WAS on 80m (tell me something I haven't heard over and over for the last 20 years on any HF band I've ever been on), but to say there's no DX simply because YOU can't hear it, doesn't mean it's not there.
