I used to wear one of those when I was driving truck, probably one of the first white guys whoever did. Used to get a lot weird looks ("Who's that cracker in the do-rag??") but I wasn't trying to make a fashion statement or anything, it was for entirely practical reasons. I have curly hair that's like steel wire and impossible to manage if it doesn't get thoroughly wet down first, something that's hard to accomplish in a truck on those shower-less days.
