mower died, I guess I need a new one
current one is over 14 years old, changed the oil once and the blade once.
Now it'll start but dies after about 20 feet of mowing.
and it smokes like an alco (black smoke)

I am a passive railfan, and the area I live in has a railroad that until very recently was an all alco shop.
Arkansas Missouri RR got about 3 SD70ACE's last year, but until then they had several C420's and 430's, as well as a bunch of RS and T switchers.
I never realized how boring the big road power is until you see something else, and realize that it's been in operation since steam power was pretty common.

It looks as if the shot may have been taken at the Tehachapi Loop. Been there a few times, it's a great spot for a railfan.
