It's that wet kind of cold that seeps into your bones.
And it doesn't help that it was 75º this week.

"It's that wet kind of cold that seeps into your bones."
That's New Jersey all the way.
Yesterdays high, 17oF (-8oC), Snow 10-12" here on the mountainside with a coating of ice on top and on the bottom.
37oF (3oC) today, plummeting down to 8oF (-13oC) by Monday.
Oh, yeah. More snow Tuesday... Winter's here and it looks like a white Christmas.
Add about 7-8" more to that total as of today. Snow accumulations are about 14-16" (36-41cm) right now. A bit less in the valleys.
Went down to 3oF (-16oC) to 0oF (-18oC) last night.
Late Christmas Eve in 2010 it sneu'd here. Large quarter sized flakes.
This year what we've been seeing is a warm up with rain and a cool down with dry. My concern is that a wet cool down would be icy.
Sunny and almost 80° today, still 60° and dark. But it's a dry dark.

What no pics?
A picture is worth 1000 words. A Two-Liter Empty Bottle of Dr. Pepper in the snow nearby. Bottle height 13"- top of bottle is even with the top of the snow. In the meadow, a bit of a walk in the snow, the depth is about 2 to 3" deeper.

PAU.
Fiddy treeº and expecting 73º by the weekend.
Merry Farging Christophas.
Traditionally we'd get some really cold days in December, 7 to 14 of them. Last year December was cold. January and February were warm and March was Quite Frigid and stayed that way until near the 3rd week of April. By May it was full blown Summer.
So, it's a tossed salad as to what to expect. We could get that snowy dip in Jan-Feb OR Mar.
3rd storm passed by last night 60 mile per hour wind, next one in the make for the 1st Xmas day, we sure get hammered here...
No pictures needed. I know what I saw. Expecting a major thaw and return to summer temps for a few days. Will likely be followed by a sudden cool down resulting in yet another bout of high winds, thunderstorms, tornadoes followed by heavy snow and ice squalls.
Couldn't take pictures even if I wanted to. Power outages couldn;t recharge the camera.
We're a modern country here, we burried our electric lines last century in the 1930's or so and don't do power outages here.
Well, for the first day of winter, NYC will be 70 or so. We'll hit 66 here. Then, if the Weather Channel is right, we'll get one of those epic storms that you normally see around March. It will have torrential rains and winds.
Oh, and I saw a red-eyed rabbit clutching a watch and hopping to a rabbit hole. Really. Sorry no pics. Electricity hasn't been invented here yet.
Notice Monday. We'll be under the Atlantic from what I can figure from that icon...

You have Arctic air coming in from the North East and warm moist air off the the ocean from the South East.
No wonder the weather is expected to be phhhhhuuukked up North.
The weather over the next few days/week will be severe. We are going from arctic cold to tropic summer in a matter of hours. torrential rains, high winds and near tropical heat wave and hurricane conditions are headed our way possibly followed by blasts of winter cold resulting in severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and derecho gust lines. I am bracing for the worst. We might see a wave before this is all over.
Wonderful evening in Salina KS.
WX report said 1-3 inches....
9 inches later...

And its still falling...
By contrast. 60º and fog here.
60º but the temps are supposed to drop tonight. I can already feel the change in my bones even though it isn't here yet.
1/2 past 7 in the evening temp 8 C and rising.... storm force 7 now rising to full ( another ) hurricane here.

Come Saturday, Jan. 4th, 2014, the forecast is for 11oF. That's the high. That night will be -5oF (-21oC)with a windchill of -15oF (-26oC)- but it's not all bleak, they originally had us at -12o...
Warm cold warm cold warm cold.
That lower line jumps up and down in my neck of the woods.
This week it will become blue where it was a little orange the past few days.
So, the orange, not quite a redneck turns blue in the cold. Well, don't we all? Eh, just the samol samol NJ weather here at the shore, warm, cold, rain, snow, cloudy overcast you never know what will happen next crap. Today was typical, it was supposed to be sunny with a high of 42 but that never happened, grey skies, raw and windy kill the weatherman sort of stuff. Things ran me ragged all day leaving me worn out and frazzled but I won't bore you with the 75M stuff.
70's again today. Doesn't even seem like winter. Why, back when I was a kid, I used to...........
The "B" word has been used a couple times...
Snow is coming, and there is no escape.
Been snowing here since noon at least. The ground is hard frozen, but so far nothing to write home about.
IF the storms come in two waves instead of one, we get a foot or so. IF not, feet of snow. Wonder how many tourists will be in Times Sq. tonite? They're crazy.
Gorgeous weather here. Put on my shorts and went mountain biking.
Slight rain 6 C above 0 too warm for the time of the year and January is looking the same, no winter to see here.
K 20 minutes before 12 signing off...
I don;t see why tourists would avoid Times Square tonight. Outside of a flurry there has been no snow in the city today. I live a few miles north and it's only going down to about 25 tonight. That is pretty tolerable. In fact it looks like a good night for NYE revelry in the city. I won;t be reveling tonight. I never revel on NYE.
Somewhere around 33º and the kids are outside playing with fire and explosives.
Snow or no snow Times Square is always crowded, sometimes for days before it gets warm enough for them to thaw and go home. Speaking of which, weather tonight isn't so bad but we're headed into deep freeze with the possibility of snow, rain, sleet or whatever if the weatherman can make up his mind. Friday night he wants 9F/-12C so it looks like Canada strikes again, I wish they'd keep their weather home.
Horse Cave KY has 30 degrees. Gonna be 48-50 today then tonight it rains and begins snowing for tomorrow morning. Just as I have to drive into Nashville! Well at least my day off is gonna be nice... Wish I was home tho...lol
