Welcome!
I'm just down the pike from you, and our paths have probably crossed at some point if you've made it to any of the area hamfests. A number of my friends are associated with CFARC and the MARC club in Massillon. Don't know if Goodyear's club is still around or not.
Get off of that thing, who called the Doctor?
Welcome to the Island, Mon! :omg:

Welcome to the Island Dr.Detroit ...... did you get a Canadian callsign when you achieved that advanced qualification? ..... a nice feather in the cap! :agree:
Yes, and Industry Canada was kind enough to let me keep it after returning to the U.S., since I continue to have a station address in Toronto that suits their requirements.
I'll never forget the day I called the Canadian amateur radio office (at the time I believe they were still called Communications Canada, before it was consolidated to Industry Canada) to see if I could get a callsign containing my initials. I was fully prepared to pay a fee, fill out paperwork, and wait it out, as we've become accustomed to doing with the FCC. The representative's response was, "No problem, that call is available, and I just put it through for you. You can use it from now on. Have a nice day." That's the kind of government agency I can dig.
