Polo is an unknown for a few more days. Current forecast tracks put Polo veering well west of Cabo. But.....it might be the rather lively Eastern Pacific hurricane season.
Well our super dry warm summer weather has come to an end with the arrival of the first days of fall....... :

Special weather statement in effect for:
- East Vancouver Island
Fall storm bringing rain and wind to the South Coast today and Wednesday.
The first Pacific storm of the fall season is bringing rain and blustery winds to the South Coast today. This storm system will exit the region early Wednesday.
Rainfall warnings have been issued for Howe Sound and the Northshore of Metro Vancouver.
Rainfall amounts near 60 mm are expected for West Vancouver Island, and near 30 mm for the remaining South Coast regions.
Strong southeasterly winds up to 60 km/h will develop this evening for the regions along the Strait of Georgia and Haro Strait. These winds will diminish Wednesday afternoon.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.

...... because of the upcoming el nino these storm systems may be far and few between..... but such is life for river and stream health that require the rain systems to support our salmon habitat and other sensitive endangered aquatic eco-systems! :-?
Earlier today I was looking at a weather satellite photo app I have on the iPad and saw that storm sitting up there in the Gulf of Alaska; it looks like a very well-developed storm with a very distinct eye. You could be in for a biggie.

It hit 100 °F (38 °C) here today and while's it's not uncommon for it to be warm here in September and October when Santa Ana conditions are present, this is exceptional.
Not near the century mark here, but we did manage to crack 70. The leaves are a month ahead of schedule, we've got about 25% red/orange right now and they expect it to peak next weekend. The sun seems much stronger than usual for early October, nearly oppressive despite the temperatures. Supposed to rain most of tomorrow, so I guess it's a good time to read or watch some movies.
