Yep that's right, building a QRP CW transmitter using mostly parts from a burned out CFL. Not my project and yes, you do have to be careful with that droplet of mercury, but otherwise what seems to be a cheap way to do some building.

Well I'll be damned!? You receive a parts bonanza for every CFL purchased!? I never would have guessed all those parts were crammed inside the base of those CFLs. :shock:

I've got a huge stock of standard incandescents and my only foray into CFL resulted in massive hash noise that made all receivers useless, so that soured me on CFLs.

Waiting patiently for the very low wattage and high light output LED bulbs to come down in price. :pray: Good grief these things are expensive right now. :evil:
