staying on w 14th st ... is there a point to taking my h.t. with me, or should i not bother?
Does it receive 26-30MHz?
Lots of illegal cabbies there, as well as a host of other "ute" stuff to listen to. If I'm reading 'NH's and 'IZE's comments correctly, the spectrum has pretty much been abandoned in that area by Part 95 users.

it's a vx-7r ... not sure about 26-30MHz. i'll also have a Sony ICF-SW1S which, i believe, does tune in that range. i didn't look too hard but i couldn't find obvious repeaters ...

A -7R would definitely be worth taking. Put that puppy in "search" mode on the VHF/UHF ranges and have fun...

Sure, and check into the KQ2H machine on the Empire State Building.

There's a 10m link on that machine...you might get to work DX!
There's also connections to Florida and England.
I'll listen for you, unless you're talking about tomorrow. I'll be out of town at 2 hamfests thes weekend.
Or...if it IS this weekend, c'mon out to one of the hamfests!
edit --
That machine is usually very nice, not too many Alpha Hotels on it. Which weekend you coming?

this one. as in "right now." :)
can't get to hamfests--don't have transportation. was out for the evening--came back early because i wasn't feeling up to snuff and now have the hotel kitty lounging on my bed.
will add that repeater to my radio tomorrow--my head's a bit fuzzy at the moment ...
