So, does anyone still like to blow the dust off of their rigs anymore? My ancient roller inductor tuner is finally giving up the ghost so I have purchased a LDG AG-1000 AT Pro2, I think it’s called and it should arrive here on or before Dec 2. I only have a wormy 100w until it arrives, but, if anyone wants to get in a little radio time, I would love to oblige. Also, if we could attempt a round table, that would even be better!

Hello Tom and Welcome to the Island. I still have repairs on the antenna support system here I use that I lovingly call TREES, or Trellised Rope Electrical Emitter System.
Many of my TREES came down and I still haven't gotten out there and sawed them up because I loathe starting my chainsaw. However, as the leaves have cleared off of the branches, now is a good time to restring the TREES.
Last Spring I made a revised OCFD with a heavy duty balun that was half the price of these that sell at hamfests for $100 at 100w. This one is a 4:1, 1000w current balun made just for the OCFD. It was under $50, encased in machined billet aluminum and sealed for bear.
Having said all that, now with the short days I only have weekends to do such things and well, often I prefer spending time in the forest.

CQ WW CW this last weekend. Can't remember the last time I heard 10 open like that, and as long as it was... I was working EU well into the late afternoon yesterday, and even the Novice portions of 10 & 15 were packed with signals.

Still need DE on 10. Hint Hint

FT-8 is getting kind of boring, I’m game to try a phone roundtable even if my funky-like-a-monkey antenna arrangement (41' random wire with Icom AH-4 tuner, although it is over a perfect salt water ground plane) means my chances of being heard are minimal.

Charles, if there is anything I can do to help out, please eat me know. Over these past three decades you have always been kind enough to help me out and I would be glad to reciprocate in whatever way I can be of service, being that I’m a feeble old pharte and all, there’s not a hell of a lot I can do, but would be glad to help. Oh, awesome pics and vids on your Instagram BTW.

My antler farm is a disgrace as well, post Helene. Not sure what planet my vertical is directed at at the moment, but my OCFD is still dangling around up there so far.

As far as radioactivity, heck yes!!! Hasn’t 10m been a pleasant surprise! Galápagos Islands yesterday afternoon was one heck of a surprise.

Tried reloading WSJT-X or whatever the heck it is yesterday afternoon, but no goodie between it and the FT-991A at the moment. On the last laptop I loaded it to, at least the radio would go nuts when the laptop booted……. With the current laptop, nothing…… at all. Not a fan of FT8 at all either as I’m a tried and true rag chewer, but, I still do try to keep up. Maybe I’ll look at it later today to see if I have better luck today.

Still, until we get to hit the airwaves together here and there, good luck y’all!

Well, Im fresh out of the horse pistol again....... I seem to be spending way too much time in that damned place verses kicking back in Fiji drinking margaritas on the beach, but hey, at least Im still here so I have that going for me. If anyone ever decides to turn on a radio and hit the keyboard, key or microphone, just hit me up. A group sched would be nice......... might I suggest we all go full QRO and get on 7.200 and take over the frequency from the twat waffles that call that shyte hole home.

Oh and I still miss you guys!

Funny you should mention getting back on the air. I'm dangerously close to setting the station back up after a hiatus for winter. Doing radio from the front porch is fine when the weather is good, so I'm really just 1 hole in the floor of the barn for passing coax away from radio activity. I've not "felt" It since the sudden passing of G5WCW and I'm sure Graeme would want me to get back on. So, maybe this is the weekend after all......

I haven't done any antenna repair since Helene but I think it's time.

I still need to get my wire back in the tree, and I need to do something with that 160 vertical... But I still have the Butternut and the Antron.

I'm game

40 & 20 operational and 10 only needs additional feed line attached to be so. That would put all three ground planes on the air.
